Our Lady Peace vs. Metric
a lesson in the renaissance of music, by colin w. pearson

this weekend was amazing.
i hated everything about it.
allow me to explain why:

first off, i hate live music.
bands are only good on CD.
fuck concerts.

marty and i walked through the gates yesterday, at about noon, an hour before the doors opened, cause we had blue wrist bands, but they didnt serve liquor yet, so we set up a great place in the shade, where we spent most of our time, especially when they started serving liquor 15 minutes later.

Broken Social Scene kicked my ass, hard.
and they played after K-OS, who was also mind-bendingly rad.
K-OS joined them onstage, wearing an asian umbrella hat.
and rocked a side drumbeat harder than the drummer could keep up with.
it reminded me of my friend steve.

SD would have loved that set, and joined me in position before The Roots.

then, came the lightning, giving us a magnificant display, while shutting down our whole concert, pre-headliner, yet the crowd still calmly escaped, probably thinking that any false move would result in definite termination, and so on.

and our lady peace sucked so hard, that it was easy to leave without dealing with a mother-bird-watching-her-child-get-eaten-by-eagles.

when we finally got our bikes home, marty cut a gigantic hole is his finger.
and i prepared the bandage.
he yelled for clay, but clay was long gone.
we cleared up all problems/cuts at bons off broadway this moring, andy helped.

today was day 2, metric, ben harper, socic youth, etc.
my brother dropped me and clay off at about 5pm, after about 14 backyard ryes. today was a whole new scene, way different, yet the same enjoyment for the beauty of live music.

metric was my #1 this weekend, so i had to get lots of people's sweat on me while they played. way of the road, and such. they knocked me down and stood me right back up again.

then ben harper took the stage.
before the show i said "oh, i hear this is a very up-beat-rocked-out style of show...and trust me, I KNOW ben harper!"...no colin, no no no.

music is my favorite.
and live music rips the best of me out and sells it for a top dollar profit.
the rewards of course, slide in smiles and satisfaction.

ben harper, and his band, were absolutely mind-breakingly-awesome.
made me feel ways about stuff.
about music, life, love, friends, famliy, etc.
guarantee that i cried during it, and so did marty.

i told clay that he HAD TO post later tonight, and that i would also.
so, this was my silly attempt.
let it be a learning curve for bringing a dick-ta-bird to all future events.

this beautiful girl was dancing in front of me for a long time, and eventually she looked back, and threw a violent yet seductive stare my way, so i caught her eyes and said:

"your ass makes music sound better."

and i meant it.
