Our Lady Peace vs. Metric
a lesson in the renaissance of music, by colin w. pearson

this weekend was amazing.
i hated everything about it.
allow me to explain why:

first off, i hate live music.
bands are only good on CD.
fuck concerts.

marty and i walked through the gates yesterday, at about noon, an hour before the doors opened, cause we had blue wrist bands, but they didnt serve liquor yet, so we set up a great place in the shade, where we spent most of our time, especially when they started serving liquor 15 minutes later.

Broken Social Scene kicked my ass, hard.
and they played after K-OS, who was also mind-bendingly rad.
K-OS joined them onstage, wearing an asian umbrella hat.
and rocked a side drumbeat harder than the drummer could keep up with.
it reminded me of my friend steve.

SD would have loved that set, and joined me in position before The Roots.

then, came the lightning, giving us a magnificant display, while shutting down our whole concert, pre-headliner, yet the crowd still calmly escaped, probably thinking that any false move would result in definite termination, and so on.

and our lady peace sucked so hard, that it was easy to leave without dealing with a mother-bird-watching-her-child-get-eaten-by-eagles.

when we finally got our bikes home, marty cut a gigantic hole is his finger.
and i prepared the bandage.
he yelled for clay, but clay was long gone.
we cleared up all problems/cuts at bons off broadway this moring, andy helped.

today was day 2, metric, ben harper, socic youth, etc.
my brother dropped me and clay off at about 5pm, after about 14 backyard ryes. today was a whole new scene, way different, yet the same enjoyment for the beauty of live music.

metric was my #1 this weekend, so i had to get lots of people's sweat on me while they played. way of the road, and such. they knocked me down and stood me right back up again.

then ben harper took the stage.
before the show i said "oh, i hear this is a very up-beat-rocked-out style of show...and trust me, I KNOW ben harper!"...no colin, no no no.

music is my favorite.
and live music rips the best of me out and sells it for a top dollar profit.
the rewards of course, slide in smiles and satisfaction.

ben harper, and his band, were absolutely mind-breakingly-awesome.
made me feel ways about stuff.
about music, life, love, friends, famliy, etc.
guarantee that i cried during it, and so did marty.

i told clay that he HAD TO post later tonight, and that i would also.
so, this was my silly attempt.
let it be a learning curve for bringing a dick-ta-bird to all future events.

this beautiful girl was dancing in front of me for a long time, and eventually she looked back, and threw a violent yet seductive stare my way, so i caught her eyes and said:

"your ass makes music sound better."

and i meant it.

olive me, #3

im a writer, who sucks ass at text messaging.
not necessarily the words, but the action of writing the text.
waiting for the letter to reset if its sharing the same key, and so on.
im one of those dads who 'pretend to hate new technology because i dont understand.'

kinda like my dad, except he doesn't pretend.
i dont blame him, as he experienced technology virtually eliminate the way he learned to do his trade, with a pencil and paper, and saw it to shoved onto computers. but as a skilled fist-thrower and able-bodied man, he held his own, and remained very successful, and even hogs the computer at home sometimes, sending only quality forwards to his tech-savy friends.

as soon as the radio industry eliminates humans, ill stop pretending too.

moving on, i move out in 2 weeks.
my folks place that is, for the 2nd time.
the first time, i was mere days into my 21st year.
it feels alot different at 26, this has been a 2 month vacation from dishes and laundry and bathroom maintenance, so im very rested up, and ready to tough it on my own once again.

cant wait to invade that condo.
and spit stupid shit all over the walls.
it shall be my new fortress of drunktitude!
a breeding ground for quality drunkreativity!

and a better place to tame dames than the tiny upstairs bedroom next to my parents room.

well, thats me.

have a good monday.

ill broadcast more when im settled in

i come and go now, like a gypsy or a ted danson.
living at home is great, but im near computers way less.
cept at work, cause im doing work stuff, like ideas and coffee.

camping was wicked, first harrison trip of the year.

got me a mighty burn.
been filing harassment lawsuits ever since.

pictures will emerge from this weekend.
and the next, and the one after.
july is a big month for camping trips and moving into condos.

my plan is to heal the burn tomorrow, then drive to PG the next day, go bowling/drinking, heal the burn, sleep on docc's couch, wake up, drive to mcleese lake, go wakeboarding/drinking, heal the burn, spend a couple nights, drive home, work for a few days, heal the burn, then go to gabriola with nicely healed skin, burn it all, start the heal again, come back, move into new condo.

i dont even bring a camera with me anymore, proof-hunters are everywhere.
